Great things happen when great minds come together. Indeed m2work hackathon sep 15-16 in Nepal is testimony to that. When you ignite the spark of enthusiasm in those great minds even greater things happen. m2work hackathon was able to inspire young minds to stretch beyond their comfort zone and scratch their creativity and skills to produce praiseworthy work. m2work hackathon in Nepal was able to produce 10 promising ideas and products based on those ideas.

Although hackers spent sleepless night working, their energies were  high till the very end of the hackathon. During the presentation and award ceremony although judges chose the top three winners, we believe everybody is a winner. Every hacker is a winner. Everybody deserves the pat on the back for the amazingly commendable effort that have put on and for the respectable outputs they have delivered.

Many unknown faces became friends. There was a team, the news portal app team( they would like to call NewsIt). There were 4 members. Astonishing thing is that all four of them had never worked together. They haven’t met before. One of the guys posted the idea in the Mobile Social Networking Group. Another guy liked it and their skill set matched. From 2 they became 4. And they formed a team. They worked together. They won the second prize. More importantly they became friends and developed deep respect for one another. m2work hackathon provided such platform where creative minds came together, they put on effort together and won friends not just the competition.

For many, m2work hackathon was the opportunity to lay hands on new technologies. Some tried nodejs, some others mongodb. Some learnt application development in Java just for the hackathon and put that skill to use. Some changed courses of the  career path from web development to the mobile application development. Few experimented with responsive web. m2work hackathon served the purpose for the hackers to learn and acquire new technologies which they would not have otherwise used in their daily office works. Therefore, m2work hackathon urged inquisitive learners to gain more new knowledge.

Most importantly, m2work hackathon gave the experience of a hackathon in Nepal. The hackathons have been  organized few and far between by tech companies or universities in Nepal. Hence, m2work hackathon gave exposure that how effective and productive the intensive hackathons could become. Many teams ended with the high spirit that they would like to have more hackathons and pledged to self organize those. It sparked the interest in many to do more. They believe and we believe this is the just the beginning of the change.

Finally, m2work hackathon has been immensely energetic , hackers were truly outstanding and their products were amazingly good for the 2 days of work. We will definitely see more of those products in future.
